This course introduces students to the structure, beauty, and logic of Classical Arabic—the language of the Qur’an, early Islamic texts, and a rich literary tradition spanning more than a millennium. No prior knowledge of Arabic is required.
The course emphasizes comprehension over memorization, helping students understand how the language works and why its structure matters for interpreting historical and religious sources. Through guided exercises, short readings, and clear explanations, learners gain the confidence to begin engaging directly with Classical Arabic texts.
By the end of the course, students will be able to read and analyze basic sentences, recognize common grammatical forms, and continue into more advanced study with a solid linguistic foundation.
The course combines asynchronous access to our Google Classroom with a weekly Zoom meeting.
